Bob Beaty...

I grew up in north central Ohio where my dad instilled in me the love for the outdoors. From the time I was old enough to carry a gun dad had me chasing rabbits, squirrels and deer and taking fishing trips to farmers’ ponds and Lake Erie .

When I was 12 dad took me deer hunting on the family farm where I had my first taste of the exhilaration of taking a whitetail. After 20 minutes of my dad walking a field of CRP I heard him yell that a deer was heading my way. As I peered out from behind the oak tree I was hiding behind I saw nothing but antlers above the grass. As the buck ran through my shooting

lane I pulled the trigger on my single shot 20 gauge. I watched from that tree as the buck took a few more steps and stood in the middle of a joining wheat field before falling over. I’ll never forget the overwhelming feeling of excitement and joy of experiencing the gift of hunting. That event, and time with my dad, hooked me on hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

Over the years I have been blessed to witness some incredible sights in the field and have been able to harvest numerous deer and turkey. I never tire of being in out of doors witnessing the beauty and sights that can only be witnessed from spending hours in the woods.

Now as I have been blessed with a son of my own I have gained a new appreciation for the gift of nature and hope to pass that love onto him. There really is nothing like the outdoors.
